Is the Quanum Vacuum a Problem?
We don't really know how to do a quantum theory of gravity, but we think that's relevant extremely high energies or high densities. But this cosmological constant isn't just a problem in those circumstances. So quantum gravity won't necessarily help. If you try to add something else into the mix to explain thereis some form of dark energy that explains the eccelerating expansion, well that's probably just another field. And so that has exactly the same problem that we had before.
