The Importance of Case Studies in Cognitive Science

Cognitive science literature was generally looking a lot at kind of lab experiments and things that could be seen in the moment but there wasn't stuff where you could see how somebody learned over many years. So this is partly convenient that he was interested in doing that because then we can get that perspective as well which is very important. He admits himself that one of the biggest reasons for him doing this is he wanted to understand the social context. It turns out to have been a really important thing to look into. That's what motivated the study but then also the way the study was done was slightly unusual. I think it has its own value.
