Sally Kohn: We're going to change the dilemma altogether. No longer will it matter for us to be able to prove what really makes someone male or female, she says. Instead, we'll simply take the social imperative to be normal and say that if you fall out of step with society because your sense of your self disagrees with how other people read your body, that constitutes a lack of adjustment.Kohn: It's actually just a pathologization of social difference. And so all money and the hampons are doing is borrowing this notion from anthropology and sociology through psychology in a clinical setting.
