Sonnet 18 - The Young Man Is Going to Be Saved for Posterity

In sonnet 18, there is no mention of marriage or procreation. That theme has been dropped, and it never comes back in Shakespeare's poems. Instead, now we get a sun metaphor. Sometime too hot, the eye of heaven shines, and often is his gold complexion dimmed. The young man is glowing. He is radiant like the sun. He lights up everything around him. This is a theme that then runs through many more of the poems to the man, and that also makes its way into shakespeare's plays.
