How do axolotls regrow parts of their bodies–including their brains?
But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids
We Can't Regrow a Finger
We can't regrow a whole arm or a new brain but you might be surprised to learn that humans do regenerate some of our tissues. So they kind of all get together and it's like hey I know you already had a role in this body but we need to regrow a limb so let's all forget which team we were on and start again. And then they make new bone cells and skin cells to make sure there are all the parts needed to recreate the missing limb. That's amazing and it's not something humans can do. Salamanders can. We're just not as good as an axolotl or starfish.
