In 1992, Bosnia declares its independence. Elvideen's family hides in a basement for a while. His dad takes off to defend the village and eventually becomes a fighter in the war. At the time when we were leaving, they were entering the northern part of the village. So you can see the smoke coming out of the houses that they were burning. We've seen it on TV, but actually now it's at our doorstep"
