Is There Anything Good to Be Say About Slavery?
The british didn't invent slavery by any means, but ad they were the ones in the eighteenth century who really profited more than anybody from the atlantic slave trade. And so it does look rather peculiar that britain is the first country to have a powerful abolitionist movement and takes the lead in shutting down theAtlantic trade slave trad then then banning slavery alltogether. It's one of these things where, ah, in certain ways it looks weird, and yet it makes complete sense in other ways.
