Why We're Learning Charge of the Light Brigade

A student asked her English teacher why they were reading Charge of the Light Brigade, one of the greatest poems in the English language. She couldn't answer it; she didn't know. So I was so upset that I leapt to my feet and I couldn't talk. And I finally just flopped back into my chair, completely in our ticket, made a complete fool of myself. Because if you couldn't hear why that the poem was great, then you shouldn't be learning about poetry in the first place, because you're an idiot.
