The Challenge of Leading Home
The first time August went away was in fall of 2020, when Axel was just a year and a half. When he came home for the first time after his transatlantic trip they were at different stages with him. He's now getting to that point where he misses me a bit but also gets really excited about coming back. The hardest part is not being able to be happy all over again because you're so far away from your child. But it does get easier as their feelings intensify even more than before.
