Starknet was built on top of solidity, a language used by developers to write smart contracts. The new system has its own set of constraints that need to be met in order for it to work properly. This is why the team decided to create their own language called starks. Starks allows them to build and deploy systems like d i d x and swear very quickly. It also allowed us to write logic for starking it.
