The United States government termed Earth First a terrorist group, although they'd never hurt anybody. A bulldozer ripping up a hillside to strip mine for coal is committing terrorism. So people were going to prison for more time for having put some sugar in the gas tank of a bulldozer than they would have if they had killed people. That's the reality of the American legal system.
