Marsha Bartoucheak writes, Hubble did not really discover the expanding universe in 1929 as written up in textbooks and commonly presumed these days. The realization did not actually occur until Hubble's data could be viewed with LeMaterer's model firmly in mind. So, once again, Hubble ended up getting credit for something that was largely another man's work but also fortunately, this situation has been redressed in recent times.
