How to Create a Culture of Possibility in the Orchestra
The culture that we are accustomed to is one of fear, blame, threat, punishment. That's corporate America. And so, and that's true in the orchestra as well. So how do you create almost a culture of possibility? The conductor just has another role. It's not as if he's better than he has the role. You cannot do without the second flute or the second violin. Give that person the feeling of the absolute significance of what they're doing.
