The Role of Distress in Mental Experiences

I don't think there's any particular kind of experience that somebody could walk through the door of your clinic and say, right, you're in this category. The key thing keeps coming back to distress. You know, is this person distressed by what's happening to them? Because the person next door might be having the same thing and isn't distressed. He's trying to understand human beings. And we're certainly not going to unclick it at the neural level of explanation or the cognitive level of explanation. We learn so much about minds in general from studying minds that from some perspectives might seem a little bit unusual. Yeah.
