The Importance of Dreams in Modernity
Cultural historian Samia Wright-Khatun talks to Eve Rees about her next project, which is an effort to decolonize the temporality of history writing. Can we do that history in colonial archives, or do we need to be engaging with different archives altogether? She says you have to start being able to use times and temporalities that other people still continue to inhabit. It's a racial category, this non-moderns, but it's also very much one of these things that no educational institution today is set up to teach you how to cultivate those modes of subjectivity That haven't gone away.
