The Power of Close Ups
I think when you watch a movie and there's lots of close ups of an actor's face, you form this personal connection with them because of that perceived closeness. I'm actually writing a little bit about this for a video that I have coming up at the end of August. But in my script, I reference the Jackie Kennedy White House tours and how this was like a major moment in history. In the 1960s, the whole television medium was really starting to take off in ways that we take for granted now. And one of the reasons why Jackie Kennedy's White House tour resonated with so many audiences was because people were experiencing a televisual intimacy.
