Industrial Talk is talking to Roger Simonson, Founder/Inventor at One Eye Industries about "Industrial Magnetic Filtration".

Overview

The conversation explored One Eye Industries magnetic filtration technology as a way to extend equipment life, reduce fluid consumption, and support condition-based maintenance.

Technology Value

Rogerexplained that the filters capture particles smaller than conventional oil filters can remove, without restricting fluid flow.
The reusable magnetic elements can last more than 25 years and are used across engines, turbines, compressors, coolant systems, grease, powders, flour, and chocolate.
A customer reportedly extended equipment life by two to four times and reduced consumption of lube oils, coolant, and transmission fluid by 50%.

Adoption Questions

Industry acceptance has increased as equipment lead times and parts shortages make asset-life extension more important.
OEMs are adopting the filters to reduce failures during warranty periods, while some customers remain reliant on OEM-directed maintenance practices.
How can filtration data be integrated into oil analysis and predictive-maintenance systems when current reporting often excludes particles smaller than four microns?
How canOne Eye Industriesfurther demonstrate value to maintenance and reliability professionals?

Outline

Conversation Context

Scottintroduced the discussion as an exploration of asset management, reliability, and filtration.
RogerrepresentedOne Eye Industriesas its founder and inventor.

Company Origins

Roger described his background in road building, logging, and equipment operation.
The company name came from a story about a resilient one-eyed grizzly bear.

Technology Development

The concept emerged after Roger found metal filings in a rebuilt engine.
He combined magnetic filtration with conventional filters to capture fine contamination while preserving flow.

Applications And Results

The technology supports industrial engines, mining equipment, oil and gas systems, turbines, compressors, and food-processing applications.
Magnetic elements can be inspected for wear debris, providing a visible condition-monitoring indicator.
Reported benefits include longer equipment life and lower fluid consumption.

Market And Future Direction

Industry adoption is increasing because new equipment and replacement parts can require years to obtain.
The company is beginning to explore additional data capabilities for predictive maintenance.
