The Importance of Education in Cambodia
Before the tribunal, it was extremely difficult for anyone to talk about Khmer Rouge. Almost everyone in Cambodia of a certain generation had direct trauma stemming from that period. Young people who now make up the vast bulk of the country's population simply didn't believe that this had occurred. Learning history enabled them to re-appreciate that these people were survivors who needed some help and support.
