The Failure of Cognitive Justice
The government treats schools as prisons for children and applies the same model of conflict resolution. Restorative justice advocates championed its ability to do both while stressing its origins in indigenous paradigms. Cognitive justice, like most progressive ideology, fails due to a flawed understanding of human nature. Many students simply aren't taught moral values that would allow them to place someone else's well-being above their own immediate gratification through vengeance or amusement.
