The Democratic Sublime

i wanted there to be am, something counter intuitive in the concept of the democratic sublime, right? I just don't see that tension as a contradiction. i'm trying to ray it as an antagonistic relationship between antagonistic parts - the democratic part and the sublime component. The title of the book is t i meant for it to have something of thatcan jar us a bit from the more familiar stories we bring to this period in eccentric questions for democratic theory.
