As an English major, I sort of always dreamed of being a writer, but I knew I didn't really have it in me. Being a historian, you don't have to make things up, which is the hard part about being a novelist. You're writing about people who lived at a certain time and there are sources that help you flesh them out. So everything is, if you dig deep enough, you know, enough is there for you to write history in a narrative form.
