Allan byrne is an american musician and leader of the zemer ensamble. His group gives new life to recordings issued by the zemer label in berlin in the 19 thirties. The recordings were almost completely destroyed by the nazes, but have recently been rediscovered and digitized. There is a moral obligation to hear the voices of the people on these recordings, knowing that many of them had very, very tragic fates.
