The Transition Between Primary and Secondary Language in Newcastle

Transition between primary and secondary is a huge issue in Newcastle. We want to try and encourage the links between the secondary language staff and teachers and students and the primary so with not just with the international visits but there was one example recently where a school that was going to roam the secondary teacher who taught Italian did a whole session about Italian culture which was brilliant. Our university, Newcastle University has a language resource center and they their staff and students actually run free language and culture sessions for any schools. They'll go in and they'll do sessions and they'll have international students and we also have international student volunteers who do loads of work in the schools now.
