The Buddha Says Don't Go by Religious Reasons
The Buddha says you shouldn't go by oral or inherited traditions. Or opinions, or the authority of scripture - whatever that means in this context. You should also take into account what we hear on the street and why it's good for us to meditate. And then finally, don't go by someone's apparent competence or because you regard an ascetic as your teacher.
