For somebody to own a newspaper to have a soapbox like William Hunter has is still fairly rare. So he's privileged in a way to espouse his views that few others are as privileged to be able to do so. He printed when he came to Kentucky at anti-slavery articles, which was really out of step with this community. It caused him to either stop printing those editorials or lose his paper.
