The State and Sexuality in Southeast Asia

The state links sexualities with moralities and national identities in Southeast Asia. In Indonesia, LGBT personas are constructed by the status and emerging threat to nation's traditional values and identity. For example, if you're you want to be a police woman in Indonesia, you are subject to a virginity test because a biased, pretty woman signifies is a morally robust state. So these are examples that just show I think how much how important these state values are as it's also connected to national identity.
