Do You Need a Chest X-Ray for Bronchitis?

The median duration of symptoms in bronchiolitis is about two weeks. If the chart is critically ill and you are thinking of using high flow or sending the kid to ICU, then I think our ICU colleagues would not be very happy if we did not do an x-ray because they want to make sure also what they are dealing with. In that particular study, I mentioned about 20% of the kids actually had airway disease together with air space disease. So officially they have quotes pneumonia, but it's all viral. One radiologist told me an interesting rule of thumb: The air space disease does not become bacterial at the moment the virus hits the lungs.
