After interviewing dozens of successful New York Times best selling authors, I found most don't find success with book number one. Deciding what your cover is going to look like will be dictated by how much you can spend to work with a book cover designer. What would the sales copy say to positions your book on Amazon? And in what categories are you going to market your book in? Because writers have to sell their own books whether they're self-published or not. If you combine marketing with writing, you stand a far greater chance of earning money from the written word and turning what could be a side gig into a full time one.
