Jakobson's Protein Concept of Linguistics
There were three particular facets of Jakobson's protein concept of linguistics which are dominant at this period. He had given it a special emphasis in a paper published in 1956 entitled Two aspects of language and two types of efferasic disturbances. The metaphor metonymia opposition has indeed played a part in linguistic theory for many years. Several anthropologists including myself have subsequently used Jakobson’s linguistic insights on this point I think to quite good effect.
