The Definition of an Autonomous Weapon
An autonomous weapon is usually defined as one that can select and engage human targets without direct human oversight or direct human intervention. Today's drones and robot dogs are not autonomous weapon systems under this definition. But militaries all around the world are very interested in using a i to make machines that can do this, that can identify, track and kill targets on their own.
