Taking a Religion and Sublating It With the New Testament

i don't think that belief is subject to the will in the simple sense that you can simply decide like well it would really be better if i believed in this religion. Could you create some new form of christianity could you use the same iconography and characters and even maybe the same canon? The problem with the whole pity thing right is that it's trapped in this utilitarian evaluation of the world where suffering is bad and pleasure is good as long as you're still accepting that’s the issue.
