We Can't Stop Something From Happening Again, Right?
I think an issue some might have with this framing is that seeing these mass shooting deaths, these acts of violence, as deaths of despair. So I wonder what you'd say to someone who's maybe having that reaction as they hear us talk. We were very deliberate about interviewing victims of every mass shooting that we studied. If we talk to the perpetrator, we also wanted to talk to victims. The ripple effects of these crimes are unbelievable when you start to sort of get into these stories and the devastation that they cause.
