CHAPTER

How to Build a McDonald's Franchise

Harry Sonborn came up with a way to make it possible, I backed it by going into hawk for everything I had. Harry went after life insurance companies. By owning the real estate and then leasing it back opens up these giant pools of capital. Money flows in before the first stake is in the ground. It fuels further land acquisition, which in turn fuels further expansion. That's how they go at this point. They have maybe a few dozen McDonald's to by the time the book ends in 1977 to 4000 to today, 40,000. This approach has never let me down and it has made all the difference in my life.
