Smaller media outlets have so much information about their audiences that they can't help but start telling their audiences what they want to hear, rather nd what they need the hear. Even if you thought you had to do things in a sort of journalistically responsible way and tell people what they need to hear, you're still going to tell it to them in their language,. The new york times is trying to communicate with its own audience as it tries to avoid alienating those listeners who are just like us. Rather than talking about your carbon footprint when you buy your next 15, or your next hummer, we should be talking about how these products affect our planet.
