Tolstoy and the Odyssey

Tolstoy renders time marvelously and render psychologically complex characters. Parts of the book when, that I didn't like initially, that I thought were boring, on a reread, they become the most fascinating part of the book. We take part in the creation of character by virtue of what we bring to a person. And if you read Anna Karenina, bringing yourself to it fully, you will know these characters better than you know real people in your life. They will cease to be characters, they're real people.
