Aristotle's Ethics Avoids Extremes
Aristotle's ethical system avoids extremes. He says that there are some basic things that are necessary to happiness, or thr the very least, it would be hard to attain happiness without them. The satisfying relationships that virtuous people tend to have are the really mature friendships that are there for the taking. A virtuous person is able to have this type of friendship because, having lived a life according to virtue, he is able to enter into mature relationships with other people. And thereby build up other people in their striving toward virtue. This is why friendship is such an important part of the virtuous life.
