I think it's important that we understand the difference between moral reasoning and legal reasoning. Legal reasoning is much more pragmatic. Like how do we solve a problem we have right now? like protecting this mountain from exploitation by the mining industry. But I think sometimes we think that's a failing of law that moral categories and moral decisions are somehow universal. And they should stand for all time.
