Episode Description
Trigger warning. We're talking about AI today. But not how to make money with it, build bots, or code apps.
This one is about what you and I have had to go through to get here. Most people in their forties and fifties never expected to go back to school for something called artificial intelligence. And this time you paid for it.
I spent a year buried in it so I could help my clients, and I came out the other side seeing it differently. Today I'm letting you off the hook a little. Hang on for the ride.
Featured Story
When AI first showed up, I didn't care. What's this chat thing? I didn't need it. About a year in, I looked again and saw what was coming.
So I dug deeper than most. It took a year. I stressed myself out, stayed up late, made apps, did all the vibe coding. I'm no stranger to computers. I bought a VIC-20 at 19 for about $300 I didn't have.
Where I landed surprised me. I don't even use many bots. Why get a bot to do the work when you can fix the work so you don't need the bot?
This past week I finished something in two hours that would have taken me a week a year ago.
Important Points
* If you run a business, you better use AI. You won't stay competitive without it, and it's more fun to build it in.
* AI made my drudgery disappear. Let it handle the grunt work so you can get back to the fun stuff you started to do.
* You've learned new skills dozens of times to get the job or land the client. AI is one more, and you can do it again.
Memorable Quotes
* People like easy. We're all wired for it, and that's exactly why AI is here to stay. We're not going to stop it.
* I paid the price. I put in the blood, sweat, and tears, and I learned something that is changing the entire world.
* If you haven't started, that's a choice. But if you're in business, you better get good at it. It's coming anyway.
Scott's Three-Step Approach
* Accept that AI is coming whether you learn it or not, and decide today that you're willing to pay the price to learn it.
* Put in the time on the learning curve. Take the courses, push through the frustration, and keep going until it clicks.
* Once you find your groove, hand AI the grunt work, fix your processes, and put those hours back into the fun stuff.
