The Impossible State

The author discusses another example of a paradigm, a non-Islamic one. This is to do with which is defined in a sense the modern nation state as we live it today. The Enlightenment project encompassed intellectual and political movements that ranged across a wide spectrum of intellectual difference. He quotes Hobbes, Voltaire, Rousseau, Hume, Spinoza, Kant, Hegel, J.S. Mill and Marx to mention only a few.
