This study was a prospective randomized trial of 60 ASA1 to 2 patients who were scheduled to undergo elective laparoscopic surgeries under general anesthesia. No LMA patients had aspiration events during this prolonged laparoscopic surgery involving positive pressure ventilation. This finding is also consistent with that of a recent study demonstrating that supraglotic airway devices could seal the airway or ensure efficient leak pressures.
