Does Perception Matter in Politics?
I do think that there has been too much focus in politics about the optics or how things look as opposed to the impact they have on our economy. We've had two decades of relatively low growth. And decisions have been made historically quite often on the basis of we can't do this because ex-weirnoid or why will be annoyed. So we've ended up with a very complicated tax system and our tax burner that is 70 year high. That has not led to economic growth. I'm very clear. It does matter in politics, doesn't it? It doesn't perception matter. But would you tell [Chancellor] Quasie Quarting not to do that again?
