The Story of Eleanor
Richard the first became king of england and sovereign of the angevin empire. The marriage between eleanor and henry had ended as a straight up hostage situation. Rebellions against henry would continue to rage until her son, richard, finally emerged victorious after capitulating to his victorious son in 11 89. Many of eleanor's biographers have made the case that she was at her most effective, powerful and influential as a widow. She continued to be influential into the reign of her youngest son, king john.
