Learning a Language?

i recently started trying to learn portuguese. There's some stuff that just blows my mind, cause i've never really tried to learn european languages before. But at the moment, i'm just trying to acquire vocabulary. If i get the corsof, two thousand, three thousand words, and then take it from theme. So do you have a i guess, a language learning plan, or are you kind of free studying like i am?
