The book is about the iconography, the visual culture of of rule n sovereign authority. It starts out with ichonology of of royal power and moves to the relocation of that sovereign authority into the body of the people. I talk about the hercules that became so important for picturing the french people at the most radical during the jacobin period of the french revolution. But then ultimately kind of leaves the world of art as canvas or sculpture, and via the festival, he kind o living, living enactments of where the people become actors in their own artistic performances.
