The Confessions of Augustine
Augustine's mother wanted him to follow her religion, but his father had other plans. It took a full twelve years after reading the Hortensius for Augustine to reach his moment of conversion. The Confessions depicts the Manakian teaching as one that appealed to his naive youthful impulses. In particular, he associates it with materialism and the Gnostic view of evil against God.
