Groups will get involved in different cases that are aligned with their mission, and they will hire a lawyer to t a brief on their behalf. They're starting to show up when cases are appealed to the supreme court. The other new thing is that since 20 ten, which is when the citizen's united case happened, there has been no transparency in whose funding these things receive.
