Why Are the Sacraments Ordained by God?

Baptism and the lord's supper are not ordained to be marks of profession among men, they're acts that we perform to demonstrate something before other people. This kind of idea does start to show up in luther's time. It's not a historic christian position. What wat's being rejected hist rically is this view on baptism. And some people say they're just symbolic; others say they actually enact grace.
