The Importance of Scene Suspense Format in Writing

If you have a first scene that's. 5,000 words long and it is in a giant book, no problem. If your second scene is 100 words long and that is the end of your short story, people are going to be very frustrated because you've set up an expectation by that scene length. One of the techniques that I've, and I say technique, this is one of those checklist things where I look at it to see if I've done something wrong. This is what I do with the mice quotient.
