Is There a Community of Free People of Color in Saint Genevieve?

i'm thinking here about episode 308, when we spoke with jessica marie johnson about colonial new orleans. She said that early on, the cod noir did allow for enslave people to earn money and buy their freedom. So i guess i'm curious about the development and the change over time in the cod nawar, and how that played out in genevieve. Do we see the code ndar becoming more restrictive in saint genevieve as we move from the eighteenth to the nineteenth centuries? Even in the colonial period, any person who gained their freedom could potentially become a property owner too.
