How to Practice Gratitude

Most people think it means they should practice feeling grateful, but you don't actually have control over your feelings at the moment. So a lot of times people are like, oh, yeah, I should be more grateful for my running water and my electricity. And then they're like, but I don't feel grateful. They just use the fact that they don't feel a certain way as a reason to criticize themselves. That just makes them feel worse, it puts them into a downward spiral.
